Biography

Bruna Matturro is a permanent Researcher at the Water Research Institute of the National Research Council (IRSA-CNR) in Italy. She co-founded the innovative start-up Trireme srl (Technologies for Reliable and Innovative REMEdiation), established as a joint spin-off between the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) and the Sapienza University of Rome. She works on environmental biotechnology topics, carrying out research activities to gain insights into bioremediation processes and technologies by using advanced biomolecular tools to evaluate the metabolic and functional potentials of microorganisms, and developing enrichment cultures for bioremediation purposes. She has been involved in may Eruopean and National Research Projects (ModelProbe, Susbiorem, KillSpill, RitMare, Life4Mar Piccolo, TERRE, Electra) and at this time she is the Coordinator of the research Project BISURE-Biotechnology for Sustainable REmediation. 2) Bruna Matturro graduated in 2010 at the Faculty of Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology of the University Sapienza of Rome, with a thesis titled “Application of biomolecular methods for the characterization and monitoring of sites contaminated by chlorinated solvents”. In 2014 she got the PhD in “Chemical and Industrial Processes” at the Sapienza University of Rome with a thesis on the “Reductive dechlorination processes: correlation between biodegradation kinetics and dechlorinating biomass activity”.
