Biography

Dr. Modiri is a Senior Research Engineer with 15 years of expertise in studying the environmental fate and transport of emerging contaminants, particularly PFAS. She holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University and completed three years of post-doctoral research. In her current role at EA, Dr. Modiri oversees the compliance of analytical methods for PFAS detection and quantification. She's also focused on developing innovative remediation strategies to mitigate PFAS's impact. Dr. Modiri is known for her collaborative approach, working alongside experts to create novel solutions for clients across diverse industries, including federal agencies. She serves as both a Principal Investigator (PI) and co-PI on various projects, including those with WRF and SERDP-ESTCP. Presently, she's actively involved in supporting the EPA's Office of Research and Development, specifically in the evaluation of temporal and spatial variability of PFAS in wastewater operations, piloting treatment technologies for water utilities, and evaluating PFAS fate and transport through thermal treatment processes.
