Biography

Chris Lutes is a principal technologist with Jacobs with more than 30 years of experience in managing vapor intrusion projects, method evaluation and remediation projects. He holds an PhD in human and natural environments, MS in environmental science and engineering and a BS in chemistry. He has worked on commercial and military vapor intrusion projects in more than 20 states and four continents. He has authored more than a dozen peer reviewed vapor intrusion papers including three relevant to PFAS vapor intrusion potential. He has helped develop and test a PFAS soil gas method involving multi-bed sorbent tube collection followed by analysis using thermal desorption gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (TD-GC–MS/MS) and has tested this method at three field sites. He has authored more than 200 U.S. EPA reports, guidance documents and conference papers in a wide variety of fields including remediation technology, environmental fate & transport, vapor intrusion and combustion byproducts.
