Biography

Oindrila is currently a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated with a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2024. With a background in Chemistry, she has experience in developing passive sampling methods to measure bioavailability of persistent and emerging pollutants, mathematical modeling of mass transfer kinetics in surface water and sediment porewater, site characterization and contaminated sediment management. In her current role as a Postdoc at Upitt, she is engaged in community engaged sampling methods and conducting exposure assessment studies from the OneHealth perspective. Her PhD was focused on optimizing passive sampling methods for long- and short-term measurements of pollutant bioavailability in surface water and sediment porewater using a combination of mathematical modeling and lab experiments, followed by field demonstration of optimized methods. Today's presentation is a chapter from her dissertation, that was recently published in the Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry Journal.
