Biography

Dr. Emmanuel serves as a professional scientist at Geosyntec Consultants, stationed at the Saskatoon office in Saskatchewan, Canada. With extensive professional experience spanning North America, Malaysia, and Australia. His versed experience across various fields of environmental science allows him to actively contribute to diverse projects. Emmanuel specializes in innovative approaches to conducting environmental assessments and providing remediation services. His areas of expertise include environmental assessments and bioremediation of contaminated sites (soil and groundwater), industrial wastewater treatment, optimizing landfill design and operations, and effective leachate management. His knowledge extends to the fate, transport, and behavior of chemical contaminants, with a specific focus on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), across diverse soil types in both tropical and temperate climates. Emmanuel's work goes beyond identifying these emerging contaminants; he also specializes in assessing the bioavailability and bioaccessibility of these substances, evaluating their potential health risks and impacts on ecosystems. Through the years he has acquired substantial expertise in this domain through collaborative efforts with other scientists in the industry and academia. A recent collaborative effort with his colleagues resulted in a currently ongoing project where the use of ozone as a disinfectant of choice for poultry bedding in eliminating pathogens such as Salmonella, Listeria, and E. coli is being examined. In addition to his proficiency in contaminant research, Emmanuel has a proven track record in conducting water quality assessments, designing potable water production systems, and innovatively producing activated carbon from biomass for use as adsorbents in wastewater treatment. His commitment to research is evident through a deep understanding of his subject matter and effective written and verbal communication, contributing to team dynamics. - B.
