Biography

Brad Heater obtained his B.S. from The Ohio State University (OSU) in Pharmacy in 2011. At the start of his PhD at OSU, he moved to Hong Kong with his supervisor Michael K. Chan and obtained his PhD in Biochemistry at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2018. After his PhD degree, he spent two more years in Hong Kong working as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Dr. Heater moved back to Columbus and joined the CBRNE unit at Battelle in March of 2021. At Battelle, Dr. Heater has contributed to several DARPA projects, including leading a team of scientists for the design of rare-earth metal binding proteins on the EMBER program, engineering novel biomaterials for crack-repair on the BRACE program, and creating novel protein biomaterials on the DARPA Opal program.
