Topic Area: 1d. Innovative Technolgies for Resilience

Background/Objectives:

The Department of Homeland Security will provide an overview of an evaluation which assessed resilience hub capacity across the United States. Aspects of this evaluation include identifying managing organizations, city, state, zip code, and resource function purposes for each resilience hub. The results from the evaluation will also be conveyed with the demonstration of an ArcGIS tool, the DHS Resilience Hub Finder, which supports the identification of resilience hubs in various regions. The information highlights the great work taking place in various cities, states, and localities when addressing climate change resilience, preparedness, and adaptation.

Approach/Activities:

The approach mentioned in the evaluation will include search criteria used to identify active resilience hubs as well as the categorization and development of the ESRI ArcGIS tool. All data presented was identified using a secondary search criteria for existing resources with relevance to resilience hubs in the U.S. and categorized according to organizational function, location, and hub type. The has been evaluated to identify operating organizations, state/province, city, zip code, organizational representatives, services provided, organizational type, and organizational subtype.

Results/Lessons Learned:

The results will include a breakdown of active resilience hubs by state, organizational management type, and resource function.
