PFAS Lab Tour: Inside the Laboratory
Background/Objectives
As the analytical landscape continues to change with regard to PFAS testing, having a clear understanding of how your partner laboratories operate is critical to project success. This presentation, led by a senior chemist, will provide a high level overview of the following: workflow of a PFAS laboratory; laboratory accreditation; analytical technology; challenges and best practices regarding PFAS analytical methods including EPA 1633, EPA 537.1, EPA 533, and more.
Approach/Activities
The presentation focuses on how PFAS testing is optimized in an accredited laboratory. By putting a clear definition around the analytical methods, technology, and best practices in the lab, attendees will develop a strong understanding of the PFAS testing process and how it may affect their projects. There will be both video and high-resolution images of the laboratory space in order to re-create the experience of touring a PFAS laboratory.
The presentation is designed for all members of the Battelle conference, and does not require a depth of understanding of chemistry or analytical methods.
Results/Lessons Learned
A virtual "laboratory tour" of a Department of Defense-accredited PFAS laboratory will be provided. The presentation material will include an overview of lab services, a video walkthrough of the lab space, and an overview of laboratory instrumentation and best practices.
