Biography

Ben has almost two decades of experience working on complex environmental projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. Over his career Ben has applied his knowledge of hydrogeology, geomorphology, chemical fate and transport, and aquatic ecology to address many challenges. He has led complex sediment and upland investigations for Superfund (CERCLA) projects and state-led cleanup programs, administered maintenance dredging and sediment remediation programs, developed surface water and groundwater quality monitoring programs, and aided in the design of site remedies. His clients have included private industry, utilities, ports, government agencies, and tribes. Prior to joining GSI Ben worked as a Water Quality Specialist at the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) where he led investigations focused on characterizing the presence of toxic compounds in the environment throughout the state and as a Senior Consultant. He received a Master of Science in Environmental Science with a focus on Hydrology from Portland State University and a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Geology from the University of Oregon.
