Biography

Heidi Nelson, P.E. Licensed Professional Engineer | State Regulator, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality Heidi Nelson is a Licensed Professional Engineer with over 20 years of experience in environmental consulting and regulatory oversight. Currently serving as a State Regulator in the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality’s Cleanup Program, Heidi has been in this role for the past seven years, where she ensures that cleanup projects throughout Oregon meet state regulatory standards. Her work involves overseeing the investigation and remediation of contaminated sites, from upland areas to in-water sediment cleanups, and ensuring that all actions align with environmental protection goals. In addition to her regulatory duties, Heidi serves as an after-hours emergency response officer for Oregon’s Emergency Spills Response Group, providing critical oversight and coordination during environmental spill events. Before joining the public sector, Heidi had a successful 20-year career as an environmental consultant, designing and implementing remedial actions for chemical source control in both upland and aquatic environments. Her deep expertise spans site assessment, corrective action design, and the execution of complex environmental remediation projects.
