Biography

Abbey Gering is an Environmental Specialist with the Brevard County Save Our Indian River Lagoon (SOIRL) Program, bringing over five years of specialized experience in nutrient cycling, biological nutrient removal, and sediment dynamics in the Indian River Lagoon. Abbey’s work centers on mitigating the impact of muck on the Lagoon’s ecosystem, with a focus on achieving measurable improvements through targeted restoration efforts. She is responsible for securing and managing critical grant funding, leading community outreach and education initiatives, overseeing dredging construction and water treatment inspections, and monitoring the success of environmental dredging projects.
