(1) Gretchen Mikeska, P.E. joined the District Department Energy and Environment (DOEE) in 2016 as its Anacostia Coordinator. In this role, she acts as a one-stop shop for both internal customers (DOEE and interagency staff) and external customers (e.g., residents, environmental stakeholders, industry, associations, and federal agencies) regarding the remediation and restoration of the Anacostia River. Ms. Mikeska also serves as the District's Natural Resource Assessment trustee for the Anacostia River. Ms. Mikeska is a strong supporter of the District’s initiatives for a better, more equitable, and cleaner DC and Anacostia River. Since 2000, she has been a member of the Anacostia Community Boathouse Association (ACBA) and, during the paddling season, she is on the Anacostia River almost daily where she can monitor the progress of the Anacostia’s restoration from a boater’s point of view. (2) Prior to joining DOEE, Ms. Mikeska worked on water issues in almost 20 countries for United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the World Bank.
