Biography

Jessica Hamilton, J.D., M.P.H. (she/her) –Director, Harbor Environmental, Port of Portland and Adjunct Faculty, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health Jessica manages the Port’s programs related to the Portland Harbor Superfund Site. Prior to this role, Jessica spent about a decade practicing law, at the Port of Portland, Perkins Coie LLP and Ball Janik LLP, representing clients on complex environmental cleanup, litigation, compliance and permitting issues. Jessica graduated from the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health (MPH) University of Washington School of Law (JD) and the University of California, at San Diego (BA). Jessica’s professional focus is on the intersection of law, policy and science, and she enjoys working on complex public policy issues, like Superfund, with multiple facets and complex groups of stakeholders. In 2009, she cofounded Women in Environment, a local networking group of beginning and seasoned environmental professionals that focuses on building personal connections and professional development—a group that is still going strong today. In addition to directing the Port’s Superfund program, Jessica also teaches two courses at the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health—Concepts of Environmental Health, and Environmental Law for Public Health and is teaching a case study course on Portland Harbor this term. In her free time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her two teenage boys who are very active—club soccer, basketball, track—and her spouse Brett and loves traveling and experiencing new cultures with her family. Her five-year-old golden doodle Ziggy is definitely the most naughty and cutest member of the family.
