Biography

Prama is a PhD candidate in Environmental Studies at Queen's University (Canada). Her research investigates the use of phytoremediation and bioremediation techniques to clean up petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil in the Canadian boreal ecozone. The goal of her research is to create a sustainable and practical framework for site remediation through harnessing the symbiosis of plants, mycorrhizal fungi, and plant-growth-promoting rhizobacteria. Her current research investigates the success of remediation across petroleum hydrocarbon fractions, soil microbial community composition, and plant health during remediation. She currently serves as a Youth Outreach and Education Coordinator for the Contaminants of Emerging Concern - Research Excellence Network (CEC-REN) at Queen's University, where she educates youth on emerging contaminants in drinking water.
