Formatted Title
Rapid PFAS Testing with No Compromises: Direct Inject Analysis
Background/Objectives
As the demand for PFAS testing increases, the laboratory's ability to meet required turnaround times becomes increasingly critical to project success. Oftentimes, a more rapid solution that still supports ultra-trace detection limits and stringent data quality objectives is desired for timely decision making. In order to meet this demand, a novel approach that utilizes the improved sensitivity of modern instrumentation and reduces the time for sample preparation was targeted for development.
Approach/Activities
Using approved and promulgated methods currently available (including EPA 537.1, EPA 533, and EPA Draft 1633) as a benchmark, the material presented will focus on the approach, challenges, and solutions, to this newly developed method through the use of comparative data from real-world samples. Summaries of these existing methods will provide a stronger understanding of what is currently available while learning about this rapid procedure and the possible applications of the technology.
Results/Lessons Learned
The author will provide an overview of the laboratory approach for this rapid turnaround time procedure based on the EPA 8327 and ASTM D-8421 methods for analysis of up to 65 compounds using Isotope Dilution quantitation with results available in as little as 1-2 business days.
