Biography

Jon Angin is the Chief of Party of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Clean Cities, Blue Ocean program—the Agency’s flagship program to address ocean plastic pollution, implemented by Tetra Tech, Inc. Mr. Angin leads Clean Cities, Blue Ocean’s work across ten countries and more than 25 cities across Asia, the Pacific Islands, Latin America, and the Caribbean to advance local solid waste management systems and circular economies. Mr. Angin has more than thirty years of experience in the solid waste management and recycling industry, ranging from strategic planning and project development to direct operating experience. Over the course of his career, he has taken a leadership role in assisting both public and private sectors in building long range sustainable strategies for solid waste management collection, recovery, and disposal. Mr. Angin’s depth of experience encompasses operations, maintenance, finance, human resources, business development, safety, emergency and disaster management planning and response and environmental compliance. He has been responsible for the development and oversight of multi-million dollar publicly and privately held assets including a variety of solid waste and recycling collection operations; landfills; transfer stations; material recovery and segregation facilities; waste-to-energy facilities; and transportation and logistics terminals. For the past fifteen years, he has been involved in solid waste planning and project development in developing economies, which have included the assessment of alternative conversion technologies, infrastructure and cost of service and program funding models.
