Biography

Margaret is a Senior Associate Environmental Consultant within the Queensland Contaminated Land Team in WSP Australia. She is currently the project manager and project director for a portfolio of sites across several sectors (such as petroleum, infrastructure and manufacturing industry). She manages a team of eight staff members within the larger QLD team, mentoring and supporting their career growth. Margaret completed a double major of Chemistry and Geology for her Bachelor of Science from UCT, followed by a Geology Honours degree. She started her career at ERM in Cape Town in 2005, before relocating to both Durban and Johannesburg offices during her time with ERM. She moved from South Africa to Australia in October 2022. The majority of her experience in South Africa was within the petroleum sector, working with clients such as Shell, BP, Caltex, Engen and Sasol. Margaret was part of the Network for Industrially Contaminated Land in Africa (NICOLA; sister organization to NICOLE) steering committee for over 6 years, and was part of the organizing team for the SustRem Conference in 2021.
